Wornington Trees is a campaigning group that was set up to oppose the destructive tree felling on Wornington Green Estate undertaken by Catalyst Housing and RBKC council and the lack of meaningful consultation with residents and the wider community during the regeneration. We believe any regeneration should be environmentally friendly and carried out in equal collaboration with residents, local community, the council and developer. Securing a future for the trees is an important issue to North Kensington residents who have a history of struggle and activism and a life expectancy of less than 10 years than those living in the south of the borough. We won back Wornington College after RBKC sold off the beloved education centre to developers and also regained control of North Kensington Library after it was sold to Notting Hill School for £1. We are still fighting for Justice for Grenfell. And are determined not to let Catalyst get away with the massacre of our much needed trees. Wornington Green Estate was built from the 1960s to the 1980s in North Kensington, London and is bounded by Ladbroke Grove and Portobello Road. |
